Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)

Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) solutions are vital for ensuring business continuity by protecting the critical network within your data centre or server room. Several forms of uninterruptible power supply systems are available and will vary depending on the required application, but its main purpose is to provide battery backup power to your data centre or server room in the event of a brown out, surge, or dip in the incoming power supply.

We offer professional advice ensuring your uninterruptible power supply solutions are efficient, correctly sized to cater for day 1 and future loads, meet requirements and fall within your budget.

When selecting an uninterruptible power supply for your data centre or server room, the efficiency of the unit at part & full loads is paramount. It is important that the system is scalable and sized to the critical IT load as this avoids energy wastage due to system losses.

Other considerations are; Battery autonomy and the amount of autonomy in minutes, which is dictated by the particular systems and application they are protecting. Autonomy is often referred to as "up time" or "battery back-up". Redundancy should be considered when installing into a data centre or server room. Uninterruptible power supplies can be configured as N+1 or in parallel. Providing additional resilience facilitates repairs during maintenance checks. The uninterruptible power supply systems found within a data centre or server room must have sufficient autonomy to support the critical loads whilst back-up generators come on line.

Small or micro uninterruptible power supply systems cater for many different applications including home & office PC's, EPOS, server and network switch hardware. Floor standing or rack mounted systems from 500VA to 10kVA are configured with:

Mains INPUT- Standard BS plug, single phase (SPN) or three phase (TPN) commando plug (IEC309) or hard wired into electrical isolators and bypass panels.

Mains OUTPUT- Standard BS sockets, IEC C13 & IEC C19 sockets, single phase (SPN) or three phase (TPN) commando sockets (IEC309) or hard wired into PDU’s, distribution boards and bypass panels.

Small Uninterruptible Power Supply Solutions

Medium sized uninterruptible power supply systems cater for office PC's, server and network switch hardware, data centre and server room environments. Floor standing solutions from 15kVA to 120kVA are configured with:

Mains INPUT – Three phase (TPN) commando plug (IEC309) or hard wired into electrical isolators and bypass panels.

Mains OUTPUT - Three phase (TPN) commando sockets (IEC309) or hard wired into PDU’s, distribution boards and bypass panels

Medium Uninterruptible Power Supply Solutions

Large uninterruptible power supply systems cater for a variety of different applications, including data centre and server room environments. Floor standing systems from 160kVA to 1100kVA plus are configured with:

Mains INPUT - Three phase (TPN) hard wired into electrical isolators and bypass panels.

Mains OUTPUT - Three phase (TPN) hard wired into PDU’s, distribution boards and bypass panels.

Large Uninterruptible Power Supply Solutions

Energy efficient fly wheel uninterruptible power supply systems cater for  large data centre and server room environments. Floor standing systems from 200kVA to 400kVA plus are configured with:

Mains IPUNT - Three phase (TPN) hard wired into electrical isolators and bypass panels.

Mains OUTPUT - Three phase (TPN) hard wired into PDU’s, distribution boards and bypass panels

The Fly Wheel UPS is arguably the most efficient uninterruptible power supply available today. In the event of a mains failure, kinetic energy is harnessed within the Fly Wheel whilst back-up generators start and come on line. Fly Wheel uninterruptible power supply systems negate the need for lead acid batteries, thus the overall footprint is considerably less than an on-line conversion system.

As well as supplying and installing your new UPS, we also offer an uninterruptible power supply decommissioning service which includes delivery of your new technology and safe uninstallation, decommissioning and removal of your old systems.

Our uninterruptible power supply removal teams carefully plan all removals, ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently, incurring the minimum of disruption and safeguarding the natural environment.

All uninterruptible power supply systems are decommissioned in full compliance with environmental regulations and best practice. This includes the Valve Regulated Lead Acid Batteries (VRLA) which are taken to a licensed company for recycling.
